Celebrating 40 Years of Studco

Read time: 3 mins

A city is more than a collection of high-rises. It is a testament to the engineering that holds it together and the quiet innovation that makes it liveable. For 40 years, Studco Building Systems has been a backbone of architectural construction across Australia and beyond. After four decades of operation, we celebrate the journey that transformed a small Australian business into a global leader for the steel construction industry.

A Vision Born in 1986

The story of Studco began 40 years ago with founder Gordon Stevens. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for identifying gaps in the manufacturing market, Gordon didn’t simply want to build another roll formed steel stud company, he wanted to change how the industry approached structural challenges.

In the early days, Gordon recognised a significant lack of effective acoustic products available in Australia. While competitors were simply selling steel, Studco was solving problems. This solution-driven mindset became the defining vision of the company and has produced innovations such as EzyJamb Flush Door Jambs, Resilmount Sound Isolation Clips and the Studco Vortex High Performance Framing System.
